Video Etiquette

Introduction

Before we jump in to the fun stuff, first you need to know how to improve your speaking skills in order to help you make videos people will actually be willing to watch. The videos below talk about giving a speech, but the tips apply when having video discussions, too. Watch the five short videos below, then move on to the game!

Absorb

1. Calm Your Nerves

2. Eliminate "Um" and "Uh"

3. Enunciate

4. Eye Contact

5. Review Your Speech (on Mute)

Let's play!

Find a partner (or several partners) and play this Factile review game (it's like Jeopardy). Click Play Now and follow the game prompts to begin play.

Do

Video

Using FlipGrid (to the right), create a video that explains your favorite part of English class. Click "Log in with Google," and use your school account. Follow the five steps you learned in the Absorb section above in order to create the best video possible.

Evaluate

Use the Google Form to the left to evaluate yourself. Click Submit when you are finished to send your responses to your teacher. She will use the same rubric to evaluate your video.
